A TOUR WITH JELLURGAL

A couple of Thursdays ago, the EM team was lucky to squeeze in a pre-lockdown walkabout tour with Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, at Burleigh Headland.

The tour began with an audiovisual experience, learning about the history of the families of the Yugambeh language region (including the Gold Coast) and followed with an educational walk along the oceanview track at Burleigh headland.

Kyra was our wonderful guide who shared her cultural knowledge, stories and language with us. She was such an engaging guide and shared many fun facts about the local flora and fauna along the walk, as well as two Dreamtime stories for the area.

It was a beautiful morning, spending time together as a team, and learning more about the traditional owners of the country we live and work on.

We all walked away feeling richer with new knowledge and insights and the inspiration to continue learning.

Thank you to Kyra and the team at Jellurgal for a great experience.
