Wellbeing from the inside out at Ella’s Farm

At Everyday Massive, our team's wellness is a core focus within our culture.

A day out of the office, coming together, and learning something is a way for us to connect, and reflect on our own wellness habits.

This year, we headed to Ella’s Farm — an off grid organic permaculture farm, located in the Northern Rivers, Bundjalung Nation. Owned by the wonderful Ella and her daughter Libby, their mission is to ‘empower the community with skills to grow their own organic vegetables, no matter the space or resources they have. To celebrate this beautiful space and nurture ourselves, our connection to the land and one another.’

And this summed up our experience perfectly.

Ella’s Farm is located in Bilambil Heights with an incredible view overlooking natural bushland, and a panoramic view of the ocean and Coolangatta in the distance. The first half of the day followed Ella as she took us on a farm tour introducing us to permaculture concepts like syntropic and aquaculture systems – and showed how to make use out of challenging environments, be it a sloping block or a confined balcony. She explained how each section of the farm interconnects to the next – even the friendly alpacas play in sustaining the ecosystem! Getting our hands dirty, we got stuck into workshops to develop some simple take home skills — including growing our own micro herbs.

The second half of the day was curated by Dr Libby. She introduced us to the science of stress and how we can eat and support ourselves to live a balanced life. Just like we focus on at Everyday Massive, the focus was on the everyday things that we can do to have a massive impact on our health long-term. She taught us about the importance of a high-fibre diet and the way fibre impacts hormone regulation – good to know! She also emphasised the importance of a quality nights’ sleep and gave practical sleep hygiene tips, and ways to quiet a busy mind. It was great to reflect together on how we can be more in tune with our bodies to maintain healthy stress levels and improve our overall holistic health.

After a nutritious lunch overlooking the farm, we finished up the day picking some bush tomatoes, taking a cutting of rosemary, and walked back through the fields of green feeling refreshed and more connected to nature and ourselves.

Special shout out to our Head of Experience Moose and Business Manager Nadeen for organising this experience for us.
